One of the most significant benefits of composite fillings (aka tooth colored fillings) is that they can be color-matched to your teeth, making them virtually undetectable. Composite fillings are the way to go for a natural looking result. Composite is aesthetically pleasing, biocompatible, and practical.
Because composite fillings bond to the tooth, less drilling is required than other restorations. This preserves more of your natural tooth structure. First, Dr. Bradley numbs the tooth and the surrounding area with a local anesthetic. Then, she will meticulously remove the decayed tooth structure. After that, Dr. Bradley will bond the tooth and apply composite filling material in layers. It will be cured (or set) with a special light between each layer to harden it. Once the filling is in place, our South Charlotte dentist will shape and polish the filling material until it matches the rest of the tooth. Voila! Your tooth is as good as new.
